How To Hide Chatting Box In Your Gmail Account

If you have a Gmail account then you will noticed that in the left side bar there is a chat box through which you are able to chat with your friends or anyone who added in your Google id.But some times if you open your Gmail account just for sending some important mails or reading some mails and you see that some one is online and pinging you for chat. This will distract you with your work.So here is a solution through which you are able to disable the chat option for some time and when you want it back repeat the same step and get the chat box again.

So if you are like me who goes to Gmail just for sending mails not for chatting, there is a simple setting that will completely remove the chat box from your Gmail account.

How to Remove The Chat Box From Gmail.??

The removing chat box from Gmail mailbox is very easy it just take some seconds and if you want it back then change the option again.

  • First Go to your Gmail Settings page.

  • Now Switch to the chat tab, if you don't know then use this link it will directly take you your Gmail chat tab setting.

  • Now choose "chat off" option for removing chat box from mailbox.

  • If you want the chat box back then repeat the first 2 steps and choose "Chat on".

This setting to disable chat may have been available in regular Gmail accounts for some time (am not sure) but it was only recently added to Gmail for Google apps account.
